Abraham Lawshe, who came in 1803, also founded an industry of this character, and purchased a small tannery previously established by Thomas Edward. It was afterwards carried on for a time by George Quiggle, his son-in-law, when it passed into the hands of Robert Sponhouse. The planing mill of Cammerer & Lambert now occupies the site of the old tannery. A. Junod also started a tannery at an early day, which, in 1830, was purchased by Bingaman & Slonaker. Regina is survived by her loving husband, Ed Knittle; beloved daughter Shelby; mother, Norma Collins of Reno; sister Debbie Akers & her husband John of Denver; brother Joseph Collins & his wife Beth of Reno; aunts & uncles Sergius & Florence Sheakley of Juneau, Alaska; Sally Jones, Jaynie Anderson & her husband Ron, and Paul Shearer? all of Reno; numerous nieces, nephews & cousins, all of whom brought her great joy. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jessica. Regina, a graduate of Reno High School, had lived in Reno for over 45 years & was a floral designer who managed the floral department at Raleys in Golden Valley. She took great pride in her Aleut & Tlinget Indian heritage & her love for Hawaii & beauty was surpassed only by her generous spirit & love for family. Regina had a creative spirit seen in her photographs & floral arrangements especially those that used tropical flowers. Her friends & co-workers loved her because of her openness, unconditional love, loyalty & acceptance of others. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
